FAQs

EMI feedthrough filters are specialized filters designed to block high-frequency electromagnetic interference at the point where conductors pass through a shielded barrier, such as a panel or enclosure wall. They allow desired low-frequency signals to pass while attenuating high-frequency noise, typically by using capacitors around the feedthrough conductor.

An EMI filter is a component or circuit that blocks unwanted high-frequency electromagnetic noise from entering or leaving electronic equipment. It typically uses inductors, capacitors, or both, arranged to attenuate noise across specific frequency ranges and is widely used to improve signal integrity and reduce interference.

If EMI feedthrough filters fail, high-frequency noise may bypass the shielded barrier, causing interference in sensitive circuits or equipment within the enclosure. This could lead to malfunctions, degraded performance, or even damage to sensitive components, especially in environments requiring high reliability and noise control.

EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) filters are designed specifically to block unwanted interference from signals or power lines. EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) filters encompass a broader range of solutions to ensure devices can operate together without mutual interference. While an EMI filter blocks interference, an EMC filter also ensures that a device both resists interference and does not emit it excessively, helping maintain overall electromagnetic compatibility.
